Wait. What is MomBall?
MomBall is a Beverly tradition that brings moms from local schools together for a few weeks of softball, ending in one very fun, very competitive tournament.
The softball is only part of it.
For a few hours a week, we get to put down work, kids, logistics and everything else — and go play.
Some of us grew up playing sports. Some of us haven't picked up a bat in decades. Some of us aren't entirely sure why we agreed to this.
We show up anyway. We move our bodies, get competitive, laugh a lot and turn people we used to pass at school pickup into actual friends.
And for a few hours a week, nobody needs us to open a pouch or wipe a butt.
Harborlight takes the field
We're two teams of moms from the Harborlight Montessori community in Beverly, representing our school at this year's MomBall tournament.
MomBall has turned familiar faces from pickup, classrooms and school events into teammates and friends.
